Men, Ladies & Couples

Cedarwood Country Club provides a wide range of events and activities for golfers of all ages and abilities. In keeping with the games traditions, our Men’s Golf Association provides our members the opportunity to participate in many traditional club golf events. The schedule includes 20 events throughout the year ranging from captain’s choice to medal play formats. The core of the schedule wraps around the Member/Member, several Member/Guest, and Club Championship. Men will also find opportunity to play with our Inter-Club Team and many other informal “Dog Fights” daily.

Much of the ladies activities stem from our very active 9-Holer & 18-Holer organizations. The 9-Holer group plays each Thursday morning, while the 18-Holer group gathers each Tuesday morning. In addition to regular play days, each group organizes special events, inter-club activities and luncheons throughout the golf season.

Couples golf provides the husband & wife opportunities to spend time together socializing and growing together in the great game of golf. Throughout the season the golf operations provides four organized golf events along with a season ending Couple’s Championship. The events are designed to attract golfers of all abilities. A more informal couples group organized by members provides other activities such as daily play times, dinners, and annual trips.

Juniors

The junior golf program at Cedarwood is one of the best in Charlotte. We have a wide range of activities both instructional and competitive. Whether for the beginner or those with tournament experience, we can tailor a program to fit any youngster’s needs. We offer three levels of coed golf camps plus a girls only camp:

  • The Beginners Camp is recommended for ages 10 and under and lasts four days. It will teach youngsters the basic fundamentals of the golf swing, the foundation of the game that will serve them well into their development as a golfer. Not only will the students learn the fundamentals, but will receive an introduction to the Rules of Golf and the game’s etiquette.
  • The Intermediate Golf Camp is recommended for youngsters age 11-14. It is designed for juniors who want to fine-tune their fundamentals. The mechanics of the swing and the short game are covered and juniors get an introduction to course management.
  • The Advanced Golf Camp is recommended for juniors age 15-18. This camp is designed for junior golfers who desire to face the challenges of major competition and have passed both the Beginners Camp and the Intermediate Camp.
  • The Girls Camp is three days in length, all focused on gender specific teaching. Students of all abilities will be introduced to the game’s fundamentals, rules, and etiquette in a low-pressure learning environment.
During the summer, starting times are reserved for junior Play Day each Wednesday from 12:30 to 2:00 p.m. The golf staff pairs the juniors according to age and experience. Preceding each Play Day the staff will provide specific instruction. Juniors can compete in the Cedarwood Cup, a points-based competition that allots points for each event during the summer. The top point’s earners will participate in a Ryder Cup style competition.

The Junior Interclub League provides juniors an opportunity to play at other area courses and to meet and compete in a team format. A total of 14 clubs in three divisions in the area participate in the league, which aims to foster the growth of junior golf by providing a structured, competitive and fun atmosphere. Each team brings four juniors in each age group to the matches. The top two teams in each division compete in the Interclub Championship.
